Special Educational Needs

At Warboys Primary Academy we endeavour to meet the educational needs of all our pupils. We do this by identifying and breaking down possible barriers to learning. The views of both the pupil and the pupil's parents should be sought. Parents play a vital role in supporting their child's education. Pupil participation is encouraged to ensure needs are monitored.  Children with special educational needs are offered full access to a broad, balanced and relevant education, differentiated to suit individuals needs, including an appropriate curriculum for the foundation stage and the National Curriculum. Following guidance from the Code of Practice, pupils with SEN shall be identified as pupils who need interventions that are additional to or different from those provided as part of the school's usual differentiated curriculum.  The Inclusion Leader for our school is Mrs Sally Pawley.

ADMISSIONS AND INCLUSION

The current agreed admissions policy of the governors makes no distinction as to pupils with special educational needs. Within the admissions policy, the aim of the school is to meet the needs of the child of any parent who wishes to register at the school. Entry to the school may need to be planned in including staggered entry or part-time entry to  meet the needs of the pupils. In the case of pupils with a statement of special educational, the Inclusion Leader will work closely with the LA named officer in coming to a decision about the most appropriate provision for the pupil. The County admission criteria states that pupils with a statement and medical needs when supported by the Student Assessment Service will take priority. No pupil can be refused admission solely on the grounds that he/she has special educational needs.
